Tottenham Hotspur parted ways with Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino after more than five years at the club, with chairman Daniel Levy making it clear the departure was a sacking rather than a parting of ways through mutual consent.
Despite the indifferent start to the season for Spurs, it still came as quite a shock for the 47-year-old to be sacked – coming just six months after Pochettino lead Spurs to their first Champions League final, losing to Liverpool in Madrid.

Simon Royce last played a competitive match back in February 2011 for Brentford during a 4-1 defeat in League One to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Yet, the 48-year-old goalkeeper found himself unexpectedly named on the bench for Gillingham in their League One clash with in-form Oxford United. The reason for the surprise inclusion was a late injury to reserve goalkeeper Joe Walsh.

Manchester United supporters will have been cursing their side as they succumbed to a disappointing 2-0 away defeat to West Ham United, putting in a particularly sub-par performance.
True, their opponents have started the new Premier League campaign well, with Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini praising his side as they become “more consistent and more solid”, but it still should have been a seen as a game that Manchester United would come out of victorious.
