Former Celtic, Barcelona and Sweden striker Henrik Larsson is reportedly one of the five possible candidates in discussions with League One side Southend United to become the next Seasiders boss.

The 48-year-old former Sweden international has been spotted at the last two Southend matches, while chairman Ron Martin has said he is going to Stockholm to “meet potential backroom staff’ ahead of the new managerial appointment.

Carles Puyol rejects offer of sports director role at Barcelona

Former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has reportedly turned down an offer to become sports director after being approached by the Spanish champions.

The 41-year-old former centre back retired as a player in 2014, and shortly after took up a short spell as assistant to then sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.
