PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Kazuyoshi Miura

Featured in the Raumdeuter Online Magazine – Edition #4

Kazuyoshi Miura is one of the most remarkable professional footballers, signing his most recent professional playing contract in January 2019, then at the tender age of 51.

The Japanese international continues to play for Yokohama FC this season, though appearances have been increasingly fleeting for the veteran striker.

Having amassed 89 senior caps for Japan, Miura retired from the international stage back in 2000 – two years before Hoever was even born.

His career has largely been based in Japan and Brazil, with a brief stint in Europe. Miura has played in the J. League since its earliest days, back when the likes of Gary Lineker were featuring for his opponents.

Miura holds the records for being the oldest footballer and oldest goalscorer in worldwide professional leagues.
