Newcastle are believed to be interested in securing the services of Dortmund’s Andre Schurrle on an 18-month loan deal.
The move would require the Magpies to pay half the 27-year-old’s £150,000 per-week wages but could significantly boost the quality of the team’s starting lineup.
Newcastle have already done business with Dortmund this season when they first loaned, and then later purchased, promising midfielder Mikel Merino.
It is believed that World Cup-winning striker Schurrle is being offered out by his club in the hope he can get regular game time under his belt.
Schurrle has struggled for game time in Germany, and managed just 35 appearances since his arrival at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna park in 2016 – fresh from winning a Premier League with Chelsea.
Stoke City are also believed to hold an interest in the German.
